Sakata Tarım Ürünleri ve Tohumculuk Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi (Headquarters: Izmir, Türkiye), a subsidiary of Sakata Seed Corporation (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan; President: Hiroshi Sakata) inaugurated a new research station in Gaziler, in the Kepez district of Antalya city, Türkiye on May 15th, 2025. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Hiroshi Sakata, President of Sakata Seed Corporation, Basile De Bary, Chief Executive Officer of Sakata Vegetables Europe, and other dignitaries.
This new 2.5-hectare R&D station includes a nursery, traditional greenhouses, crossing block greenhouses, hydroponic greenhouses, a laboratory, fields, and offices. This investment will allow Sakata to reinforce its cucumber research programmes and further expand its current tomato and pepper research programmes. These R&D efforts will enable the creation of new varieties to address the needs of Turkish growers and plant raisers, as well as to meet the expectations of the European, Middle East, and Central Asia markets.
