Agritu Sementes is a company that specializes in onion seeds. The company has developed a business closely rooted in the local community by supplying high-quality seeds, with a particular focus on Santa Catarina State, one of Brazil’s major onion-producing regions. The company’s strengths include its outstanding seed production technology and sales routes. Onions produced in the state are also highly regarded by the market.
Onion seeds represent one of the largest global markets among vegetable crops. They have a huge vegetable seed market in Brazil, second only to the tomato*, and are also a major product of Sakata Seed Sudamerica. We expect this acquisition to have a multi-faceted effect that will enable us to expand seed sales, strengthen our product portfolio, accelerate research and development, and improve our seed production technology. By comprehensively strengthening our onion business with a focus on Brazil, we aim to enhance our presence across the entire South American market.
